The Sopranos: How the Cast Actors Are Today

The Sopranos changed television forever. Featuring some of TV’s first anti-hero protagonists, the show also broke stereotypes about what audiences were used to seeing on television and what mobsters and their families were like. To this day, some consider The Sopranos one of the best shows ever done. The last episode of the show aired in 2007 and since then, fans have wanted more.

Since the end of the series, the actors who have become so beloved have continued their careers, mostly in the entertainment industry, and some have decided to go their separate ways. However, after seeing these actors transform and bring to life some of the best characters in television history, a fondness develops between them and the viewer. Anyway, it’s always nice to know what happened to them after such a special show ended.

Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini)

Tony Soprano, a mobster who suffers from anxiety, is brilliantly played by actor James Gandolfini. Gandolfini continued his career producing several HBO films and series. He even starred in some other mafia related projects like The delivery.

Sadly, the actor who plays Tony Soprano passed away due to a heart attack in 2013. He was addicted to alcohol and cocaine, so much so that the producers of the HBO series feared he would die while filming the series.

Carmela Soprano (Edie Falco)

Carmela Soprano is played by Edie Falco, who won three Emmy Awards during her participation in The Sopranos. Since the show ended, Edie has received another Emmy (and five more nominations) for her role in Nurse Jackie. She has been a part of several television shows, including Law & Order. Falco was part of the third season of American Crime Story: Impeachment, where she played the role of Hilary Clinton. In addition, the actress is also in avatar 2 and 3which are currently in post-production.

Meadow Soprano (Jamie-Lynn Sigler)

The eldest daughter of the Sopranos is played by Jamie-Lynn Sigler. The actress has been in several projects and is very open about her personal life: she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at age 20. Sigler uses her platform to be honest about her illness and how it has affected her life, including her view of motherhood. Furthermore, she worked on the series Big Sky and also participated in a short film released this year, I’m on Fire.

AJ Soprano (Robert Iler)

Tony and Carmela’s son AJ is played by Robert Iler. Since the end of the show, Iler has been part of an episode of Law & Order, but his acting career stopped there. He decided to pursue a career as a professional poker player instead of acting. Iler is also co-host of a multi-topic podcast, pajama pants. Jamie-Lynn has been a guest on the podcast several times.

Jennifer Melfi (Lorraine Bracco)

Jennifer Melfi, Tony Soprano’s therapist, is played by Lorraine Bracco. The actress was already well known, especially in gangster films, as she starred in the good companions. After The Sopranos ended, she was part of some shows: Blue Bloods, Rizzoli & Isles and much more. The actress voices another therapist, this time a couples therapist, in the animated series BoJack Horseman. Also, in 2022 Bracco voiced Sofia in the new film by Pinocchio.

Adriana La Cerva (Drea de Matteo)

La Cerva had several roles after The Sopranosincluding programs such as Sons of Anarchy and Awaken Housewives. She is the co-host of a podcast, Made Womenwhere he talks about The Sopranos, focusing on his behind-the-scenes experience on set. De Matteo also has a Mafia-themed wine, Gangster Goddess Broad-Cast Pinot Noir. This year, for example, she was in several films, including One Way, Collide and Safe Room.

Christopher Moltisanti (Michael Imperioli)

Christopher Moltisanti is played by Michael Imperioli. The actor played the character again in 2021. That’s because he was the narrator of the prequel to The Sopranos, The Many Saints of Newark. The actor has also written a book and co-hosts a podcast about the show. On screen, however, Imperioli became known for playing detective roles. He starred in the Oscar winner One Night In Miami and the brilliant recent series white lotus.

Paulie Gualtieri (Tony Sirico)

The actor was always brilliant as a tough guy, but he had a great sense of humor, as evidenced by his frequent roles in Woody Allen films since shootings on Broadway 1994. Sirico starred in a few films after The Sopranosthe best known being Café Society and Wonder Wheel by Woody Allen. He also did some voice work with Seth MacFarlane, as the character of Vinny in Family Guy and Enzo Perotti in American Dad. Sadly, Sirico passed away in July 2022.

Silvio Dante (Steven Van Zandt)

Silvio Dante, a part of Tony’s inner circle, is played by Steven Van Zandt. The charming actor and musician continued with mafia-related roles and even starred in Martin Scorsese’s film, the irish. Zandt has done a few projects with Netflix, including The Christmas Chronicles and the first exclusive streaming content that Netflix purchased, lilyhammer. Additionally, he is the guitarist for Bruce Springsteen’s band and released a memoir last year, Unrequited Infatuations.
