Chicago Fire reveals who died in season 11

In fact, fans of Chicago Fire didn’t expect this one. The firefighter drama had made it clear that one character would not make it out of this week’s episode that the series aired in the United States alive. And the suspense was in the air because the audience didn’t know who it would be.

Many theories were created about who would be the injured firefighter who would not survive. And now we know who died.

The good news is that whoever died was not technically a member of Battalion 51. But it was someone with a close personal connection to the characters we know and love. He’s someone one of the other characters knows and loves too, which is part of what makes his death so shocking.

In fact, over the last few years, he’s become a character that the audience has grown to love, so that makes his death even more painful.

We need to let you know that, from here, we will give SPOILERS from episode 3 of season 11 of Chicago Fire.

Who Died in Chicago Fire Season 11?

The character who died in episode 3 of season 11 of Chicago Fire was Chief Evan Hawkins (Jimmy Nicholas).

Hawkins came into action at the end of the episode when he went to help someone out of a burning building. Unfortunately, the building collapsed before he could complete his mission.

The rest of Team 51 struggled to get him out of the wreckage, but by the time they got to him, it was too late. Hawkins and the man he tried to save were confirmed dead.

Worst of all, his girlfriend Violet (Hanako Greensmith) witnessed the whole thing and was understandably devastated by the news. Violet tried her best to resurrect Hawkins, but when she realized she was no use, she became hysterical and had to be contained by the rest of the team.

It was a devastating scene, and Greensmith gave one of his best performances of all time.

Hawkins had become one of the fan-favorite characters

On social media, fans reacted to Hawkins’ death with anger. “I will no longer follow Chicago Fire after that!”exclaimed an angry fan in the twitter who followed the series live in the United States. “I can’t believe Hawkins didn’t deserve this, just now that he and Violet were happy”lamented a second fan.

The tragedy of it all, of course, is that Violet and Hawkins had to keep their romance a secret for most of Season 10, and because of Hawkins’ recent transfer, they were finally able to be a couple in public.

They were incredibly happy at the end of the Season 11 premiere, and it really felt like they were going to make things work.

But this is proof for the writing staff of Chicago Fire that they could tell us that a character was going to die and still shock us with who he turned out to be.

Hawkins’ death may impact Violet’s future

As with Leslie Shay or Ottis, Hawkins’ death in Chicago Fire must have consequences for some character. Violet, obviously, is the character that was directly linked to him, and the paramedic must live in mourning from the next episodes.

It was even considered that Chicago Fire killed Hawkins just so Violet could be with Gallo again, but we don’t see that happening anytime soon. Violet will have to get through this grief first, and it will likely take all of Season 11 for her to go through this ordeal.

In any case, Hawkins’ death proved to be one of the saddest episodes in the history of Chicago Fire. The character will be missed!
